Write on 4th is a community writing center serving youth and adults as part of the 4th&4th Foundation. Our mission is to provide equitable and accessible opportunities for Tucsonans to engage in, have fun with, and grow from self-expression through writing.
While Write on 4th’s inaugural program is “Crafting Your College Essays: Stand Out with Your Story,” a free, six-week, series for high school seniors, the community can look forward to local and visiting writers’ readings and workshops, weekend events such as haiku evenings, Bananagrams tournaments, and open mic spoken word, opportunities for seasonal group letter writing sessions, creative writing classes for youth, academic writing assistance, and a “Writing the City” summer camp, among other plans. We welcome your input as we continue to build this space to serve the area’s needs.
We know that most writing is ultimately an individual endeavor, but we are excited to fuel the freedom, the fun, and the power of writing through this supportive and welcoming center.

Community EngagementJulie Reed is our Write on 4th community engagement aficionado. She has been an academic advisor for over two decades at U of A and loves working with students of all ages. The creator of two local blogs, TucsonMama and TucsonInStyle, Julie has also written for women’s health, fashion, music, and medical publications. She earned her MFA in creative writing from U of A and has taught at the University and at Pima. Perhaps overly competitive at word games, she is excited to play with language in all sorts of ways with her fellow Tucsonans.
